Welcome to Thrive Cardiff
Patron – Nathan Cleverly
“I am very proud to be the patron of Thrive Cardiff, an organistion that helps provide support & facilities for children with disabilities and their families” Nathan.
Thrive (Cardiff) is a self funded, registered charity run entirely by parent VOLUNTEERS. Thrive Cardiff helps support children and families with disabilities. We do not receive any funding from local government and work hard to be able to self-fund our activities and events. Our aim is to offer our very special children, their siblings and families a protective arena where they can play in an exclusive, non judgmental and supportive environment without prejudice. All children, including children with disabilities, have the right to play, have fun and take part in recreational activities. Play has a very important role in a child’s development, helping to develop speech, sensory skills, imagination independence and perhaps most importantly for our children, social skills. Sadly not all children are given this chance, simply because they look or act differently. Thrive is committed to providing children with disabilities the same opportunities. We meet in play center settings in the Cardiff and surrounding areas, where the whole family can receive support from others in the same situation, without being judged. Any disability is welcome at Thrive and we have sessions to suit all age ranges and all family members.
We are very honoured to have WBO World Light Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly as patron of our charity and we look forward to working with Nathan and Team Clev in the future. Please take a look around our site and learn more about what we do to support disabled children.

Thrive Plus (over 11’s)
Thrive Cardiff is a registered charity run by parent volunteers ( no one is paid a wage) we meet in several location in Cardiff/Newport/ Caerphilly area, we meet in play centre settings which are hired exclusively for our families, we also arrange trips/ outings / events which also are exclusive for our families. We have no criteria, any child with any disability can join thrive and siblings are always welcome. We have developed a group which is called thrive plus, this is for the older children who have outgrown playcentres (some older children still like to come and play and this is fine by us.) this group meet during the holidays as well as termtime for walks and activities suited for older children, we still hire facilities exclusive and have previously had circus workshops, swimming, bowling, discos, white water rafting, climbing wall activities & day trips. They are planning a camping holiday soon. There is no upper age limit to thrive plus, we have several young men 18+ who attend lots of events.

For new people to Thrive. I have been involved for 11 yrs now, and an Committee member for prob 9 of those. It has been our lifeline. I’m now more involved with Thrive Plus (11 plus). We are looking to develop our existing activities and welcome any suggestions for new ventures, in an attempt to accommodate all our children and their different needs. In my experience it has been well worth getting involved as our son Danny has benefited immensely. Jenny xx
